Welcome!
Hello, I'm Yasmin - an experienced secondary English teacher with ten years' experience teaching in Outstanding grammar and independent schools and fifteen year's tutoring experience.
I offer online tuition for Key Stages 3-4, specialising in AQA GCSE English Language and English Literature.
As a former Key Stage 4 coordinator of English and a current GCSE examiner, I have extensive insight into what exam boards are looking for. More importantly, I strive to develop in students life-long skills that will enrich their futures: self-confidence, critical thinking, and a genuine love for reading.

"Yasmin has been such an inspirational teacher... she made me realise that I can achieve anything."
Sara, Year 11 student
Why Choose Enlighten English Tuition?
My experience in the classroom and as a tutor has given me an deep understanding of how students learn best. I use a range of dynamic teaching tools to make lessons engaging and stimulating, bringing the texts we study off the page and into students' lives. Students are taught to communicate effectively, expand their vocabulary, develop flair in their writing, and to analyse texts with confidence.
I have a strong track record in helping students achieve their academic goals, whether that means progressing from a grade 3 in the mock exam to a grade 8 in the final GCSE; exceeding predicted grades; or securing the results needed to enter their first-choice university.
I believe in getting to know every student as an individual and that, regardless of their starting point, there are always strengths to build upon. Sometimes, all a student needs is someone to shine a light on their potential; from there, confidence can flourish. The relationships I build with students and their families are therefore incredibly important to me.
For me, English is a subject with value far beyond GCSE or A-Level examinations. It develops essential lifelong skills — communication, critical thinking, creativity, and empathy — that support students throughout their lives. I aim to impart this love for the subject in every student I teach.

Group Programmes
English is a discursive subject that depends on a strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Small- group sessions provide a rich and engagong environment in which students can develop these abilities, explore a range of interpretations, and build confident in articulating their own ideas.
For many students, online learning also offers a more comfortable and convenient approach to tuition - allowing them to learn from the comfort of their own home, avoiding unnecessary travel time, and without the intensity of 1:1 or face-to-face tuition.
These group programmes include 1 hour of online tuition once per week, alongside self-study resources and homework designed to support a further hour of independent learning. Students will receive detailed feedback on their work, with clear next steps outlined to help them build confidence and make consistent progress.
