About Me
I am a former secondary English teacher and current GCSE examiner with ten years' experience teaching in top-performing schools in north-west London and Hertfordshire, where I have held various leadership positions including Acting Second in English and Key Stage 3 Coordinator. In 2023, I decided to step away from the classroom to focus on raising my two young children.
I have been tutoring for 15 years in libraries, homes, and, more recently, online.
Early in my teaching career, I began to develop an interest in finding ways to support neurodivergent learners. I conducted a year-long project for a Teacher Led Development Work project (TLDW) with the HertsCam consortium on "Developing Strategies to Support Students with Difficulties with Spelling", focusing in particular on dyslexic learners. Over the years, I studied courses and modules about dyslexia with the University of London and the British Dyslexia Foundation, subsequently delivering departmental training.
I have also taken various courses on autism and ADHD to strengthen my understanding and explore strategies to help neurodivergent learners.
Though my reading tastes are many, I have a special fondness of the Gothic genre and its evolution, from Frankenstein through to Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber. I also love creative writing, having led lunchtime clubs for students in Key Stage 3 for several years, and am working on my own manuscript for a middle-grade novel which I hope to someday finish!
